Let us have a wider look together at the term “Design” in the business world! People say that it goes to talk about development of new products and services. This is not the end of the story!
What does it really mean? At its core, design is the process of creating something new that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. We will not detach art from design, but surely we have different tools as I witten below:
We as designers use a variety of tools and techniques to bring our ideas to life, including sketches, prototypes, and computer simulations. We also draw on our knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and user needs to create products and services that are not only beautiful, but also practical and effective.
It is more than just creating something that looks good and works well. It's about solving problems and making people's lives better. Whether it's a new smartphone app that simplifies daily tasks, a medical device that saves lives, or a piece of furniture that transforms a space, design has the power to make a real impact.
As a designer, I start the process with researching and analyzing my users’ needs and desires of their target audience. Then I move on to ideation, exploring different concepts and ideas before selecting the best one to move forward with. Prototyping and testing help me a lot to refine my ideas and ensure that the final product or service meets the needs of its users.
Let's say that a company wants to create a new smartphone app that helps people manage their daily tasks more efficiently.
The first step in the design process would be to conduct research and analysis to understand the needs and pain points of the target audience. This could involve surveying potential users, conducting focus groups, and analyzing data on existing task management apps.
Once the research is complete, the designers would move on to ideation, exploring different concepts and ideas for the app. They might create sketches or wireframes to visualize the different options and get feedback from stakeholders.
Next, the designers would create a prototype of the app, which could be a working model or a simulated version that allows users to interact with the app and provide feedback. The prototype would be tested and refined based on user feedback and usability testing.
They would work closely with developers and other stakeholders to ensure that the app is not only functional and effective, but also aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly.
Through this design process, the company would be able to create a task management app that meets the needs of its target audience and helps people manage their daily tasks more efficiently. And by incorporating user feedback and insights throughout the design process, the company can be confident that the final product will be well-received and successful in the market.
Ultimately, design is about innovation and creativity. It's about taking an idea and turning it into something tangible and useful. And with the right approach and tools, anyone can become a designer and contribute to making the world a better place.
